The Trust is governed by a Board of Trustees who serve voluntarily, holding it in trust for the communities it exists to serve rather than for any private interest.
Voluntary services
Every trustee serves without remuneration, giving their time to a cause that outlasts any single tenure. The Trust works without profit motive and without distinction of caste, creed or religion.

Decisions are made openly and in the long-term interest of the communities we serve, faithful to the founding vision set down in 1992.

Reconstituted in 2006 and again in 2016, the Board has carried the Trust's purpose steadily across decades while renewing its leadership for the years ahead.

Founded on 3 August 1992 in Bangalore (Reg. No. 586, Vol. 103), the Trust is named in honour of Babu Jagjivan Ram (1908–1986) and continues to serve, without profit motive and without distinction of caste, creed or religion.
